Turkey

ODMD counts retail sales. 19.3% of the cars sold in August were fully electric, down from 21.3% a year earlier. ODMD reports that sales of electric cars above 160 kW fell 65.3% in January–August. TÜİK counts registrations, which is a different measure: it recorded 66,048 cars registered in August, 18.4% of them electric. ODMD's Tesla figures are ODMD's own estimates.

Germany

Battery-electric cars reached 32.4% of new registrations, up from 19.0% in August 2025. Tesla more than doubled year on year, to 3,034, with more Model 3 than Model Y.

United Kingdom

The BEV share rose to 29.8%. Tesla fell to 2,180 registrations from 3,243 a year earlier, although Model 3 was still the UK's best-selling BEV in August.

France

Electric cars took 38.3% of the market. Tesla registered 5,038 cars, up from 1,331 in August 2025, and Model Y was the month's best-selling electric model (4,622).

BEVs made up 48.9% of new cars. This was the first month with more full EVs than hybrids.

The electric share rose to 44.6%. Tesla sold only 123 cars in August, but 5,849 so far this year.

A record 85.9% of new cars were electric. Tesla doubled on August 2025, to 967.

Norway

98.7% of new cars were electric, a record. Tesla fell to 627 from 3,014 a year earlier, but it is still the best-selling brand so far this year.

What it means for owners

In Turkey, about one new car in five is fully electric (19.3% in August, 18.7% January–August, ODMD). Across all registered cars the figure is only 2.6% (TÜİK). TSB does not publish kasko figures by fuel type, so insurers have little public EV-specific claims history to go on.
Tesla's Turkish sales fell from 8,730 in August 2025 to 280 in August 2026. Both are ODMD's estimates, not figures reported by Tesla. [ESTIMATE] Fewer new cars arriving means the Tesla fleet in Turkey gets older on average, so battery condition and service history matter more when a car changes hands.
Across the whole Turkish kasko sector, claims grew faster than premiums: the gross loss ratio was 69.2% in 2025 and 72.9% in January–June 2026 (TSB). This covers all cars and all insurers. It is not an EV figure and not the price of any single policy.
Europe is moving the other way. The electric share rose year on year in every European market in this report that publishes a comparison, for example Germany from 19.0% to 32.4%. Tesla's own numbers are split: up in Germany, France, the Netherlands and Denmark, down in Norway, the UK and Sweden.
Registration counts say nothing about a particular car's battery or how it has been driven. When you buy or sell a used Tesla, ask for that car's own data rather than relying on market averages.

What we could not source

Tesla in Turkey: ODMD estimates Tesla's figures from the company's public statements. TÜİK lists only the top 20 brands, and Tesla was not among them in August.
Turkey by model: ODMD publishes brand tables only, so there is no model breakdown for electric cars.
France: AAA-Data publishes no August 2025 BEV count, only the +113% change. PFA's year-to-date electric count includes hydrogen cars, so we leave it out.
Netherlands: the year-to-date BEV count is published only as a share. Norway: Tesla's year-to-date figure comes from Tek.no, which quotes OFV. OFV's own release gives it only as a lead over Toyota.
